Shaded Cat

Project Idea: Sketchbook

1. Divide your 12" x 12" Strathmore® Sketchbook page into four quadrants using a pencil and ruler. Draw the lines lightly so you can erase them later.
2. Using a pencil, sketch the outline of the cat's face as shown on each quadrant.
3. Erase the guide lines.
4. Add medium gray tones, leaving some spots white to highlight the cat’s face. The zig-zag lines should always point away from the face, just as they do with real cat fur.
5. Shade the darkest areas of the face last, coloring heavily with a standard pencil to make the darkest gray possible.
