WORKSHOP 3

Here’s the schedule – all videos and instruction sheets will be posted on their start date at 9:00am CST:

September 4, 2018
Lesson 1: Setting Up Your Studio to Paint - The 4 C's
Bob approaches every painting with the 4 C's in mind: concept, composition, color, and commitment. Determining the first three prior to starting a piece will keep you focused on the subject and intention of the painting. The 4 C's will take your paintings to the next level and set you up for success.

Lesson 2: Light Source and Introduction to Rembrandt Style Lighting
Many artists tend to get wrapped up in detail early-on in their paintings and drawings. For Bob, it's about getting the gesture of lights and darks established first, and the rest will start to fall into place. If a painting looks flat, it's likely due to a lack of a strong, single light source. In lesson 2, you'll learn all about value, contrast, lighting and try out hands-on exercises to ensure these key points get instilled as part of your artist repertoire.

Lesson 3: Painting Floral Still Lifes
Get ready to paint loose and juicy floral bouquets. You'll start out by splashing a big mess of paint on your paper and try out a negative painting technique to reveal a beautiful vase full of colorful flowers.

Lesson 4: Color Lesson and Finishing Touches
Establishing the proper color combination and sticking to it throughout your painting will result in pieces that are dimensional and aesthetically pleasing. Bob provides his Goof-Proof Color Wheel for endless possibilities of pleasing color combinations. You'll also hear loads of useful techniques, mantras and inspiration to keep you finding the focus in your painting.
