NEW! 400 Series Black Mixed Media Paper

We are excited to introduce 400 Series Black Mixed Media to the Strathmore family. This heavyweight paper is 184lb. (300gsm) and has a vellum drawing surface. It’s also sized to handle wet media applications, making it perfect for a wide range of materials including:

gouache
colored pencil
acrylic
gel pens
metallic inks
metallic watercolors
light charcoal
pastels
other opaque media

You can find it in 4 pad sizes: 6”x8”, 9”x12”, 11”x14” and 18”x24".

Our cover artist, Minnie Small, created a beautiful forest scene on the black paper using a mix of gouache, colored pencils and opaque pens. The paper stayed nice and flat and handled the gouache without any issues.

We can't wait to see what else artists do with this new black surface!

And don't forget, our 400 Series Mixed Media paper also comes in a natural white shade. We initially developed mixed media papers to meet the growing needs of artists who wanted the finish of a drawing sheet combined with the characteristics of a watercolor paper. Mixed Media pads combine true wet media performance and dry media finish for a complete range of mixed media applications.
